1 Dead in Houston Motorcycle Accident on Fry Road and Interstate 10
HOUSTON, TX (December 30, 2024) – Early Saturday morning, Katelyn Sorell died in a brutal motorcycle crash on Fry Road and Interstate 10.
The incident happened just before 3:00 a.m. on Fry Road and Interstate 10.
The driver, identified as 34-year-old Trymeshia Smith, has been arrested and charged with DWI in connection to the crash.
Deputies report that two motorcycles were traveling side by side northbound on Fry Road, just north of I-10 in west Houston.
The motorcycle in the right lane was driven by Kade Sorrell, with Katelyn as the passenger. At the same time, a Chevrolet Malibu, driven by Smith, was stopped facing southbound in the northbound turn lane. Deputies say Smith turned left in front of the two motorcycles.
The motorcycle in the left lane managed to swerve and avoid a collision. However, the motorcycle carrying Kade and Katelyn was unable to avoid the crash. Both were thrown from the motorcycle.
Katelyn died at the scene, while Kade was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Their ages have not been released.
Smith was arrested on suspicion of DWI, and deputies say her charges could be upgraded to intoxication manslaughter pending the investigation’s outcome. She was released after posting a $10,000 bond.
