55-Year-Old Woman Fatally Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver near Sepulveda Boulevard
NORTH HILLS, CA (July 6, 2018) – A woman was killed early Friday morning after she was struck by a hit-and-run driver in North Hills.
As per reports, the incident took place shortly after midnight near the intersection of Sepulveda Boulevard and Plummer Street. 55-year-old Karen McCauley was crossing westbound outside of a crosswalk when she was struck by a southbound black BMW.
The driver of the BMW did not stop at the scene and turned right on Nordhoff Street before entering the 405 Freeway. A Good Samaritan attempted to chase down the driver but lost sight of the vehicle as it sped through the freeway.
Witnesses claimed that the hit-and-run vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed when it struck the pedestrian. McCauley was found approximately 150 feet away from the scene of the collision. She sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead by the authorities.
