Isaiah Tamasoaalii Arrested in Fatal DUI Crash on Barton Road in Loma Linda
LOMA LINDA, CA (November 2, 2019) – A woman died in a pedestrian DUI crash Saturday morning in Loma Linda, authorities said.
The crash happened around 6:05 a.m., at the intersection of Barton Road and Newport Avenue. Dispatchers arrived to the area shortly after.
According to the CHP, a female had been running on the sidewalk when a vehicle veered off the road and struck her.
Paramedics responded to the scene and later pronounced the woman dead. Authorities identified the female victim as Judith Covarrubias, 65, of Grand Terrace.
Deputies arrested the driver of the car, 19-year-old Isaiah Tamasoaalii of Redlands, on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence.
Bail for Tamasoaalii was set at $250,000.
