Juan Macias Dead in Winton Pedestrian Crash on Almond Avenue

WINTON, CA (December 29, 2021) – Monday night, 41-year-old Juan Macias died in a pedestrian accident on Almond Avenue and Cypress Avenue.

The incident happened at about 6:30 p.m. in the eastbound Almond Avenue, east of Cypress Avenue.

According to reports, the man out of Atwater pushed a shopping car eastbound on Almond Avenue in the rain.

Then, a 59-year-old Winton man in a 2001 Chevy Silverado drove east on Almond Avenue. However, the driver failed to see the man in the roadway due to rainy weather. Also, the lack of lighting in the area and the man’s dark clothing played a role.

Indeed, the driver traveling around 25 mph failed to avoid the man, and struck him with the right front of his truck.

Eventually, the man stopped on the edge of Almond Avenue near the driveway of Frank Sparkes Elementary School.

Also, the truck driver that hit Mr. Macias remained at the scene of the crash and has been cooperative with authorities.

Apparently, despite CPR efforts by authorities, Macias died at the scene.

Moreover, alcohol and/or drugs didn’t play a role in the deadly crash.

Due to the limited information available, the authorities continue to investigate the Winton accident.

We at Sweet Lawyers send our condolences to the loved ones grieving the death of the victim.
