Juan Hernandez Miranda Struck and Killed on 14 Freeway and Escondido Canyon Road

LOS ANGELES, CA (November 16, 2020) – Sunday morning, 19-year-old Juan Hernandez Miranda died in a pedestrian accident on the 14 Freeway and Escondido Canyon Road.

The authorities received a report of a vehicle that had rolled over in the fast lane of the southbound 14 Freeway and Escondido Canyon Road.

The fatal accident happened at 4:39 a.m. Afterward, another caller reported that the car was in the carpool lane.

Meanwhile, a witness said that the vehicle was a gray Toyota Tacoma pickup truck.

According to some witnesses, a vehicle hit a pedestrian on the freeway. At this time, the authorities haven’t clarified why the man was on the freeway, and not in a car.

As a result, the authorities declared Juan Hernandez Miranda, of Newhall, dead at the scene.

Moreover, the authorities issued a SigAlert for all southbound lanes on Escondido Canyon Road with traffic diverted off the freeway at Red Rover Mine Road.

After some time, the lanes of the 14 Freeway reopened.

We at Sweet Lawyers offer our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Juan Hernandez Miranda. Our thoughts are with them during this difficult time.

Deadly Pedestrian Accidents in California

While car accidents are far more common than pedestrian accidents, there is still reason to be wary when traveling on foot.

“Pedestrian accidents do not occur as much as motor vehicle accidents, but the pedestrian accidents tend to include more serious injuries,” says Tyler Toomey, a practicing attorney at Sweet Lawyers.
