90-Year-Old Man Killed While Crossing East H Street and Buena Vista Way
CHULA VISTA, CA (February 9, 2018) – A 90-year-old man crossing the street died after being struck by two cars in Chula Vista on Friday night.
According to Chula Vista Police, it was around 6 PM when Juan Guel was crossing H Street against the light at Buena Vista Way, when he was hit by a car on the Number 3 lane. The vehicle was coming from the the Number 2 lane, and the driver was unable to stop in time.
Guel fell on the street after being struck by the first car, and was then hit by another passing vehicle which ended up pinning him underneath. Authorities pronounced the victim dead at the scene due to obvious fatal injuries. No medical treatment was performed on him.
Chula Vista Police Officers and paramedics arrived at the scene after witnesses called 911 to report the incident. Both drivers stopped after the accident and cooperated in the investigation. Authorities do not believe that drugs or alcohol were involved in the accident.
