1 Killed in Las Vegas DUI Accident on South Decatur Boulevard near Pioneer Avenue

LAS VEGAS, NV (May 14, 2023) – Friday night, authorities arrested Jovany Pouncil after a fatal pedestrian crash on South Decatur Boulevard.

The incident started at around 7:06 p.m. when a northbound 2012 Volkswagen on South Decatur Boulevard north of Pioneer Avenue, veered to the right and lost control.

According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the Volkswagen drove into the sidewalk and struck a pedestrian.

Officers said that the Volkswagen collided with several utility poles in the area. Also, the force of the crash pushed debris from the collisions to strike multiple parked vehicles.

Moreover, responders rushed the 55-year-old male pedestrian to UMC, where he was later pronounced dead.

Furthermore, authorities arrested the Volkswagen driver, 27-year-old Pouncil, on suspicion of DUI. Then, paramedics transported the suspect and his passenger, 23-year-old Kazmyr Reed, to UMC with minor injuries.

Meanwhile, the deadly crash remained under investigation.
