Teen Killed in Fremont Crash on 880 Freeway Identified

 
FREMONT, CA (August 24, 2019) – A teen was killed in a two-vehicle crash Thursday night on 880 Freeway in Fremont.
 
The Santa Clara County medical examiner’s office identified the victim on Saturday as 15-year-old Jovani Maldonado Garcia of Oakland.
 
Garcia was a passenger in a Ford Ranger that was rear-ended by a Tesla sedan Thursday evening on northbound 880 Freeway between Mowry Avenue and Stevenson Boulevard at about 6:35 p.m.
 
The impact ejected Garcia from the Ranger. Paramedics rushed him to Stanford Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.
 
Meanwhile, emergency crews transported both drivers to Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley with unspecified injuries.
 
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the crash.
