Icy Conditions and Speed Result in Fatal Crash on Colo. 14 East of Weld County Road 23
AULT, CO (February 5, 2018) – A 26-year-old resident from Evans was fatally injured in a car crash with a semi-trailer on Colo. 14 near Weld County Road 23 on Monday morning around 7 AM.
According to a news release from the Weld County Coroner’s Office, the victim was Joshua Shane Ault. He was reportedly driving an SUV on Highway 14 just north of Severance, when he crashed into a westbound semi-trailer truck.
Responders arrived at the scene of the crash and pronounced Ault dead at the scene. It is unclear whether or not the victim was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
Officials believe that icy conditions and speed played a role, according to Trooper Josh Lewis, spokesman for Colorado State Patrol. No other injuries or damages were reported in this accident.
