3 People Hurt in Sonora Multi-Vehicle Accident on Highway 108 near Hess Avenue

SONORA, CA (December 28, 2023) – Tuesday noon, Joshua Engle and Sherri Lee sustained injuries in a disastrous three-vehicle crash on Highway 108 near Hess Avenue.

The incident happened on Highway 108, approximately ½ mile west of Hess Avenue.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash involved a Ford Explorer driven by 23-year-old Engle of Modesto, a Ford 150 driven by 61-year-old Michael Kindberg of Hilmar, and a Ford Expedition driven by 70-year-old Lee of Sonora.

Moreover, responders airlifted Engle to a hospital in Modesto with major injuries. Then, paramedics transported Lee to Adventist Health Sonora with minor to moderate injuries. Also, authorities said that Kindberg complained of minor pain but was not transported to a hospital.

Furthermore, the crash closed Highway 108 for about an hour, but has long since reopened.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.

Due to limited information, the CHP continued to investigate the crash.
