Joshua Brownell Killed in Head-On Collision near Lake Elsinore

One Killed and One Injured in Car Crash at Intersection of Riverside Drive and Gunnerson Street

LAKE ELSINORE, CA (March 22, 2018) – A head-on collision on the intersection of Riverside Drive and Gunnerson Street resulted in one dead and one injured, around 9 AM on Thursday morning.

Responding officers from the Riverside County Fire Department, arrived at the scene of the two-car crash, to find one driver trapped inside their vehicle. It took nine firefighters to help both drivers.

A seriously injured woman was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Medics tried to resuscitate 33-year-old Joshua Brownell, a resident of Lake Elsinore, but were unsuccessful. He succumbed to his injuries sustained in the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Riverside Drive/Highway 74 was shut down for nearly four to six hours while authorities investigating and crews cleaned up the wreckage. The case continues to be under investigation. The Lake Elsinore Police Department is encouraging witnesses with additional information to contact Officer Foster at (951) 245-3300.
