Fatal Vehicle and Pedestrian Collision near East Drive

 
MORONGO VALLEY, CA (January 31, 2020) – Authorities identified Joshua Alexander as the person killed in a pedestrian crash on Highway 62 on Friday night.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened just east of East Drive around 10:15 PM.
 
Reports showed that Alexander, 28, of Pine Grove was walking eastbound on the highway when he was struck by a Nissan pickup truck.
 
Alexander was pronounced dead at the scene.
 
Based on an initial assessment, it was determined that the Nissan driver, Miguel DelaCruz, 38, of Los Angeles, was driving his pick-up behind another vehicle before the accident. The first vehicle then saw the victim and swerved but DelaCruz was not able to avoid the collision.
 
An investigation is on-going.
