Pedestrian Dies in Street Race Multi-Vehicle Collision in Santa Fe in West Long Beach

 
Long Beach, CA (May 11, 2020)– Monday evening, a 59-year-old Josephine Espiritu of Long Beach was killed in a street race multi-vehicle collision while crossing the intersection of Santa Fe Avenue and Hill Street.
 
Police responded upon receiving crash reports around 6:45 p.m. on May 11. Dispatched officers arrived and located the two vehicles and the pedestrian down on the scene.
 
Reportedly, the Lexus and a Nissan sports car were speeding southbound on Santa Fe when they crossed paths with the minivan that was headed east on Hill. After the collision, the Lexus went spinning into a pedestrian that crossing the street at that time. Her injuries were too severe that it killed her on the spot.
 
Meanwhile, the Lexus driver was transported to a hospital in critical condition. Detectives are expected to present a case against him to the district attorney’s office, which will consider filing charges.
 
Moreover, the minivan’s driver only had minor injuries. Police don’t believe drugs or alcohol were a factor.

Nissan Sports Car Flees the Scene

Authorities are also trying to find the Nissan involved in the street race that fled the scene immediately. Police described it as a black Nissan 350Z with a slatted window covering on the back window.
