42-Year-Old Man Killed after Maserati Struck Tree at Outer Traffic Circle and Los Coyotes Diagonal
LONG BEACH, CA (March 16, 2018) – A passenger in a Maserati died and the driver was injured after the car struck a tree in the area of Los Coyotes Diagonal, on Friday evening.
At around 6:55 PM, the driver of the Maserati lost control of the car when he attempted to make a left turn from the Outer Traffic Circle onto eastbound Los Coyotes Diagonal at high speeds.
The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office identified the passenger as 42-year-old Joseph Testone Jr. Police initially said he was of Buena Park, but coroner officials said that the victim had a residential address in Idaho. Emergency responders found Testone still in the car upon arrival.
The driver of the Maserati, identified as a 54-year-old man from Long Beach, was critically injured and remained in the hospital after the incident. He was ejected from the car due to the impact of the crash, even though it was found that he and Testone were wearing seatbelts at the time of the incident.
The Maserati was split in half because of the impact and the wreckage was found in front of the In-N-Out Burger on Los Coyotes Diagonal.
Authorities are still investigating the fatal accident, but they believe that alcohol may have been involved.
Deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Joseph Testone Jr. May he rest in peace.
