Joseph Haddad and Brenda Haddad Dead in Los Banos Accident Involving Big Rig on 5 Freeway

 
Los Banos, CA (July 12, 2020) – On Saturday afternoon, Joseph Haddad and Brenda Haddad died when a semi-truck rear-ended them on the I-5 in Merced County.
 
According to the Los Banos CHP, the incident occurred after 4:30 p.m.
 
Moreover, the crash took place on the northbound on the 5 Freeway near John Erreca Rest Area.
 
The authorities revealed that the crash involved a big rig and six vehicles.
 
It happened when traffic slowed, and the big rig failed to halt. As a result, it rear-ended a 2018 Chevrolet Malibu, thus causing a chain-reaction collision involving several more vehicles.
 
Furthermore, they confirmed that 63-year-old Joseph Haddad, the driver of the Malibu, and his female passenger, Brenda Haddad, 53, both succumbed to their injuries at the scene.
 
Meanwhile, the police diverted the northbound traffic onto Nees Avenue. Reports also said that one of the vehicles overturned.
 
Subsequently, the investigators ruled out drugs or alcohol as a factor in the crash. However, the authorities suspect that the big rig driver was distracted and didn’t notice the traffic slowing down.
