Injuries Reported in San Jacinto Small Plane Accident on SH 150 W

SAN JACINTO COUNTY, TX (May 4, 2023) – Wednesday, Joseph Blum and Darlene Woelfel suffered injuries in a plane crash on SH 150 W.

The incident happened at 1:28 p.m., north of SH 150 W in the Evergreen area of San Jacinto County.

According to the sheriff’s office, the cars led to minor injuries.

Reports said that the plane crashed in an open field off FM 945, about three miles north of Highway 150.

Meanwhile, preliminary investigation revealed that a Piper aircraft departed the Conroe – North Houston Regional Airport.

However, a student pilot and instructor suffered a mechanical issue during the flight. Then, the instructor pilot managed to fly the plane to an open field. However, it crashed while landing.

Officers revealed the identity of the instructor as 69-year-old Blum, of Montgomery. Responders transported him via helicopter to a Conroe hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, 21-year-old student pilot Woelfel from Magnolia was also taken to a Conroe hospital for treatment.
