4 Hurt in Deadly Davis Auto Accident on Pole Line Road and County Road 29

 
DAVIS, CA (March 29, 2021) – Friday night, Joseph Bettencourt died and four others suffered injuries in a crash on Pole Line Road and County Road 29.
 
The head-on crash occurred just after 7:00 p.m. on Pole Line Road and County Road 29. According to a CHP officer, one of the drivers veered suddenly into the oncoming traffic.
 
As a result, the driver of the northbound older-model Honda sedan succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Last Saturday, the Yolo County coroner’s officials identified the deceased as 22-year-old Joseph Austin Bettencourt from Woodland.
 
Meanwhile, the other involved vehicle, a Ford Econoline van had four occupants, all were Oakland residents. Three male and one male occupant were heading home from farm work when the crash happened. Responders transported all four of them to area hospitals due to their injuries. Meanwhile, the CHP confirmed that the male driver sustained a broken leg.
 
“There was nothing out of the ordinary, and all of a sudden the Honda swerved in front of the van, and it looked intentional,” the officer revealed.
 
As a result, the van overturned and stopped in a ditch on the west side of the road.
 
Also, the authorities shut down Pole Line Road for several hours during the investigation.
