HWY 243 Collision Kills Jennifer Johnson

Van Zandt County, TX (January 25, 2023) – On Saturday, Jose Rincon Juarez, 37, of Kaufman, was involved in a fatal collision on State Highway 243.

The fatal crash took place at about 7:43 p.m. five miles west of Canton.

According to the preliminary DPS report, Jennifer Johnson, 42, of Canton, was driving a northbound 2019 Nissan Sentra on County Road 2501. She was trying to make a turn right onto the highway when she made a wide right turn and drove the opposite way. 

Jennifer Johnson overcorrected into the correct lane at the same time Jose Rincon Juarez tried to avoid Johnson’s vehicle. 

Unfortunately, Juarez’s 2022 Dodge Ram 2500 crashed into Johnson’s car.

The authorities declared Jennifer Johnson dead at the crash scene.

Johnson’s passenger sustained injuries and was rushed to a Tyler hospital. On the other hand, Rincon and his passenger did not incur injuries from the HWY 243 collision.
