1 Person Dead in Carlsbad Pedestrian Accident on 2200 Las Palmas Drive

CARLSBAD, CA (September 11, 2024) – Early Tuesday, authorities arrested Jose Manuel Zambrano Cruz after a fatal hit-and-run crash on 2200 Las Palmas Drive.

The incident happened at around 12:37 a.m. in the 2200 block of Las Palmas Drive.

According to reports, an eastbound Volkswagen Jetta traveling at a high rate of speed collided with three vehicles and a pedestrian who just got out of a car.

Authorities confirmed that the 23-year-old female pedestrian died at the scene.

Officers managed to locate and arrest the hit-and-run driver, identified as 26-year-old Cruz, on suspicion of felony hit-and-run, DUI causing injury or death and vehicular manslaughter. 

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
