52-Year-Old Bicyclist Killed in Accident near North Mountain Avenue
UPLAND, CA (August 20, 2018) – On Monday evening, a bicyclist was fatally injured after struck by a crash on West 25th Street. The San Bernardino County Coroner’s office later identified the victim as 52-year-old Jose Leon of Montclair.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at approximately 6:30 PM on W 25th Street near North Mountain Avenue.
Leon was reportedly riding southbound on North Mountain when the collision took place. At the same time, Thomas Campbell was driving his 2016 Honda CRV east on West 25th when he collided with Leon at the intersection. Leon’s bike struck the left side of the Honda.
The cause and events leading up to the crash are unknown, and it has not yet been determined if drugs or alcohol played a role in the fatal accident. No additional information has been disclosed to the public at this time, as officials continue to investigate.
