2 Officers Injured in Fresno Accident near Shaw Avenue and West Avenue

 
FRESNO, CA (April 13, 2022) – Tuesday morning, authorities arrested Jose Garcia after a pursuit crash near Shaw Avenue and West Avenue.
 
The incident happened when officers made a traffic stop on Abby Street and White Avenue. Then, the suspect vehicle fled as officers approached.
 
According to reports, authorities flagged the license plate as “armed and dangerous.” Also, they said that the driver was an active gang member wanted for assault with a firearm on a person.
 
Eventually, the chase ended near Shaw Avenue and West Avenue after the vehicle lost control. Then, it veered into the westbound lanes of Shaw Avenue.
 
Meanwhile, the 27-year-old driver Jose Garcia accelerated head-on into the patrol car. As a result, it went backward a short distance before he drove around and sped away.
 
Then, Garcia stopped on Teilman Avenue, south of Shaw Avenue and both suspects ran into the neighborhood. Eventually, officers found Jose Garcia hiding on the top of a roof. However, the second person remained at large.
 
As a result of the crash, the patrol car suffered major damage. Also, two officers required hospitalization due to minor injuries.
 
Due to the limited information available, the crash remains under active investigation.
