Jose DeJesus Berrelleza Killed, Run Over by Car Thief in Anaheim

 
Anaheim, CA (September 23, 2020) – On Tuesday, 33-year-old Jose DeJesus Berrelleza died after a car thief run over him on Melinda Circle.
 
The incident happened at about 6:20 a.m. at Elsiena Way wherein the victim tried to stop a suspect from stealing his van.
 
Anaheim police Sgt. Shane Carringer said Berrelleza attempted to get into the passenger seat when the thief was driving away and got run over.
 
Authorities pronounced Berrelleza dead at the scene.
 
Two hours later, police located the van a mile and a half away and detained several people in the vehicle to determine if they were involved in the theft.
 
Meanwhile, authorities did not arrest anyone as of early Tuesday morning.
