PIRU, CA (March 16, 2021) – Monday morning, 45-year-old Jose De Loa Huerta died in a head-on crash on Highway 126 and Center Street.
 
The CHP officers came to the scene at about 5:20 a.m. on eastbound Highway 126 and Center Street,
 
According to the CHP reports, the incident involved a pickup and a box truck, where one caught fire.
 
CHP officers said that the driver of a black Ford F-150 traveled westbound. Then, the driver drove across the center median into oncoming traffic. As a result, a white Freightliner box truck traveling eastbound broadsided the black For5d.
 
The 45-year-old male pickup driver, Mr. De Loa Huerta, suffered fatal injuries. Meanwhile, the box truck driver was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
 
The authorities issued a SigAlert on eastbound lanes of Highway 126 for around 5 hours.
 
Also, moderate rain and very slick roads have been observed. Thus, authorities advised drivers to use caution and expect delays for several hours. By 10:45 a.m., the lanes reopened.
 
Moreover, they haven’t determined whether alcohol or drugs played a role.
 
The deadly Piru crash remains under active investigation.
