26-Year-Old German Bicyclist Hit by Vehicle near Leeward Spur

THE SEA RANCH, CA (October 15, 2018) – A German bicyclist was injured late Monday morning following a hit-and-run collision near Leeward Spur. The victim was later identified as 26-year-old Joschka Homann.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident took place at about 11:50 AM. The bicyclist was passing through the coastal community when a pickup hit him with one of its side mirrors.

Due to the impact of the crash, Homann was ejected from his bicycle and thrown to the ground. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was released two weeks after the collision.

Meanwhile, the involved vehicle did not stop and immediately fled the area.

Investigators believe that the suspect’s vehicle was dark blue or black pickup with a flatbed, possibly pulling a white trailer. Anyone with additional information is asked to call the authorities at (707) 588‑1400. No further details have been provided to the public, as the investigation is ongoing at this time.
