Jorge Diaz and Miguel Garcia Valdez Both Apprehended in Hit-and-Run Crash on Sunnymead Boulevard

Moreno Valley, CA (March 08, 2021) – On Saturday, police arrested 20-year-old Jorge Diaz of Moreno Valley and 23-year-old Miguel Garcia Valdez of Perris, in a hit-and-run crash on Sunnymead Boulevard.

The fatal accident took place at about 5:30 p.m. while the victim was crossing the boulevard.

Furthermore, witnesses informed investigators of a black Jeep Cherokee that was seen street racing with a blue Chevy Camaro when it struck the pedestrian.

Officers pronounced the pedestrian, a 45-year-old Moreno Valley man, dead at the scene. They withheld his name pending notification of his family.

Later that day, Diaz called authorities and identified himself as the Jeep Cherokee driver.

Additionally, Valdez also identified himself as the Chevy Camaro’s driver.

Subsequently, police arrested and booked Diaz into custody on suspicion of murder and crimes related to street racing. They also arrested Valdez on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and street racing-related crimes.
