1 Dead in Solano County Car Accident on 80 Freeway
SOLANO COUNTY, CA (November 7, 2019) – A 23-year-old man died in a car accident on 80 Freeway on November 5.
Jonathan Rosete died after crashing his 2007 Honda Accord with a 2013 Ford Escape driven by a 71-year-old Silveyville woman near Dixon.
The incident occurred at 10:42 p.m. on eastbound 80 Freeway east of Currey Road, CHP Officer David Harvey revealed.
After an investigation, the CHP found out that Rosete did not wear a seatbelt at the time of the accident. In addition, he drove above the 65-mph speed limit. After that, Rosete reportedly changed lanes from the No. 2 lane to the No. 3 when he crashed with the slower-moving Ford.
“The impact caused the Ford to overturn, coming to rest on its right side on the right shoulder of 80 Freeway eastbound from Currey Road,” Harvey stated.
As a result, the Ford driver suffered injuries and went to the Kaiser hospital in Vacaville for treatment. Meanwhile, Rosete died in the initial impact of the collision.
“It is believed alcohol impairment played a role in this traffic collision,” Harvey added.
CHP are urging anyone with information to contact the CHP Solano Area Office at 707-428-2100 and ask for Officer A. Skinner or contact the CHP’s non-emergency line 1-800-TELL-CHP (1-800-835-5247).
Our deepest sympathies are extended to the family and friends of the victim.
