67-year-old Jonas Ramanavicius Dead After 2-Vehicle Crash on Fort Lowell Road in Tucson

Tucson, AZ (November 22, 2024) –  67-year-old Jonas Ramanavicius died in a two-vehicle crash on Fort Lowell Road.

The Tucson Police Department announced that a 67-year-old man died after a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Fort Lowell Road and Columbus Boulevard on Thursday night. 

First responders from TPD and the Tucson Fire Department reached the scene shortly before 7:00 p.m. on November 21.

Emergency personnel pronounced Jonas Ramanavicius, the driver of a green 2014 Subaru Forester, dead at the scene. 

Authorities have notified his family. Meanwhile, an adult female driving a red 1999 Honda CR-V sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Traffic Unit Detectives arrived to conduct a detailed investigation. 

Their findings revealed that the Honda CR-V was heading west on Fort Lowell Road and attempting a left turn onto southbound Columbus Boulevard. 

At the same time, Ramanavicius was traveling east on Fort Lowell Road, leading to the collision.

An officer from the Impaired Driver Enforcement Unit evaluated the CR-V’s driver at the hospital and confirmed she was not impaired. 

Investigators determined that the primary cause of the crash was failure to yield during the left turn.

At this point, authorities have not issued any charges or citations. The investigation is ongoing, and updates will be provided as new details emerge.
