Jonah Hurton Arrested in Fatal Traffic Crash on 42nd Street [Odessa, TX]

Odessa, TX (November 29, 2024) On Thursday morning, 19-year-old Jonah Hurton was arrested after a tragic traffic crash on 42nd Street that led to the death of a 15-year-old boy.

According to the Odessa Police Department (OPD), the suspected DWI crash happened at about 2:05 a.m. at the intersection with Northwest County Road.

Reports say that a deadly crash in Odessa resulted in the death of a 15-year-old boy driving a stolen vehicle. The crash occurred around 2:05 a.m. at 42nd Street and Northwest County Road.

Odessa Police Department says that Huirton, driving a 2018 Ford F-150 eastbound on 42nd Street, collided with a 15-year-old male driving a stolen 2011 Kia Sorrento northbound on Northwest County Road.

Authorities say that the 15-year-old driver died at the scene, and his 13-year-old passenger sustained serious injuries, requiring transport to Medical Center Hospital.

Huirton was arrested for driving while intoxicated, with additional charges expected. Officers are investigating the cause of the crash.

The stolen vehicle driven by the 15-year-old was reported earlier. Authorities are asking anyone who witnessed the crash to contact Odessa Crime Stoppers at 432-333-TIPS.
