John Worcester and Three Others Injured in Hit-and-Run Crash on Interstate 5

Ridgefield, WA (December 19, 2020) – On Thursday, 51-year-old John Worcester and his parents, 79-year-old Patricia Worcester, and 87-year-old Paul Worcester were injured in a hit-and-run crash on Interstate 5.

Authorities responded to the scene at about 7:07 p.m. south of Interstate 5 Exit 14.

Trooper Will Finn said John Worcester was driving a 2000 Ford Expedition northbound on the freeway. His parents and their 49-year-old friend Garron Slocum were his passengers.

Worcester was traveling in the right lane when a red sedan on the left side of the road struck a barrier. Then, the sedan drifted toward the Ford SUV Worcester was driving.

As a result, Worcester swerved to the right to avoid the crash. However, he lost control and his vehicle turned over onto its passenger side.

The red sedan briefly stopped at the scene but fled northbound.

“As a result of the collision, all four occupants of the Expedition were injured. One passenger suffered the most serious injuries with a fractured sternum and multiple ribs,” Finn said.

Immediately, responders rushed all four people in the SUV to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center.

Authorities said two of the victims seriously injured.

Meanwhile, three of the people hospitalized were treated and released. Patricia Worcester is in satisfactory condition.

Furthermore, detectives are looking for the involved vehicle. A red, four-door sedan, which possibly has front-end damage. Authorities are seeking additional witnesses to the crash. Also, anyone who has details about the driving behavior of the suspect driver leading up to or after it.

Anyone who was traveling through the area from 7 p.m. until 7:15 p.m. and has dash-cam video must review their recordings for the fleeing vehicle, troopers said.

Please direct additional information or video to detective Michael Huhta at 360-449-7941 or michael.huhta@wsp.wa.gov.

Always focus whenever driving. Keep your eyes on the road, and your hands on the wheel.
