Cahleigh Martin Rear-Ends Vehicle in Fatal Paso Robles Accident

Paso Robles, CA – On Monday, 67-year-old John Splivalo died, and 22-year-old Cahleigh Martin of Templeton was involved in a crash on Highway 101.

The fatal Highway 101 accident took place before 6:52 P.M.

Apparently, Martin was traveling on a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado in the right-hand lane at a speed of 65 mph. She looked over her left shoulder to merge into the inner lane, and made the lane change.

Then, she looked back in front of her and saw traffic was stopped at a distance of 50 feet in front of her vehicle.

Consequently, she was not able to stop. As a result, she rear-ended John Splivalo’s 2018 GMC Terrain, which was stopped in the southbound inner lane.

As a result, the Terrain was pushed into a 2001 Avalon driven by 35-year-old Louie Bellen of Camarillo. She did not get injured. Afterward, the Avalon was pushed into a stoped 2016 Chevrolet driven by 69-year-old Ralph Buckner of Fountain Valley.

Martin suffered minor pain from the crash. However, the GMC Terrain driver, Mr. Splivalo, sustained fatal injuries.

Moreover, the CHP said Martin was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs during the fatal Paso Robles crash.

Furthermore, the authorities established a reroute to Paso Robles using Vine Street to State Route 46 allowing vehicles to re-enter the freeway.
