John Goulart of Chowchilla and Paul Pilgrim of Fresno Injured in State Route 41 Accident
O’Neils, CA (May 13. 2021) – On Tuesday, John Goulart of Chowchilla, and Paul Pilgrim, 46 of Fresno, were injured in State Route 41 vehicle crash.
The O’Neals accident happened at approximately 1:20 p.m. north of Road 200.
Apparently, Pilgrim, in a 2003 Nissan 350Z, drove northbound on Highway 41.
He pulled to the east shoulder of the freeway as a 2016 Western tractor and trailer driven by Goulart, who was also northbound, was approaching the Nissan.
Pilgrim made a U-turn directly in front of the tractor-trailer driven by Goulart.
Goulart braked hard and turned left trying to avoid the Nissan. However, the tractor-trailer then crashed into the left front of the Nissan.
Afterward, Goulart turned right and tried to keep the big rig from going into the southbound lanes.
The tractor-trailer ran off the roadway. It passed through the guardrail and rolled down the embankment.
Right away, rescuers took Goulart to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno with major injuries.
On the other hand, responders took Pilgrim to Saint Agnes Medical Center with minor injuries.
Officers are investigating the semi-truck crash.
If worn properly, a seat belt prevents you from being tossed around inside of a crashing vehicle or, at worst, flung out through the windshield. Statistics show that over half of all accident fatalities were passengers not using seatbelts.
Dealing With a Big Rig Crash
Even though state laws prohibit cell phone use when driving, upwards of 80% of car accidents are a result of distracted drivers.
Therefore, it is important to know how to proceed in case you find yourself involved in a traffic collision.
In case of an accident, you must:
– Before anything else, seek medical attention if you have been hurt.
– Get to a safe place to prevent further damage or injury.
– Collect as much information as possible: insurance and contact information of people involved in the accident and pictures/videos of vehicles involved.
– File a police report or incident report by calling 911.
– Hire an experienced personal injury attorney from Sweet Lawyers.
