85-Year-Old Man Killed in Car Crash near Mercury Highway
NYE COUNTY, NV (May 2, 2019) – Authorities identified 85-year-old John Craft as the man killed in a crash near Mercury Highway.
According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, the incident happened at about 11:15 AM. A Chrysler Town and Country was heading north on Highway 95 when it rear-ended a 1980 Ford Shay classic 1929 replica. The impact of the collision pushed Craft’s vehicle into the left unpaved shoulder of the highway, striking a dirt embankment.
Craft, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the vehicle. He suffered fatal injuries, and emergency responders pronounced him dead on the scene. Meanwhile, the driver of the Chrysler remained and cooperated with investigators.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the fatal crash. Anyone with information is asked to cooperate as soon as possible. Further details will be released to the public once they become available.
