2 Dead in Jean Car Crash on 15 Freeway
JEAN, NV (December 9, 2019) – Two people died in a wrong-way crash on December 5 near Jean.
The Clark County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased individuals as 51-year-old John Camilo from Valley Village CA and 42-year-old Frank Thomas from Jean. The authorities are still investigating the causes of their death,
According to NHP, the collision occurred at about 9:55 p.m. on southbound 15 Freeway near Mile Marker 16.
Frank Thomas drove an Oldsmobile sedan the wrong way when he hit a Chevy Express van. John Camilo, the Chevy’s driver, got struck in the fast lane and pushed into the desert. The two drivers died at the scene.
Meanwhile, troopers are looking into the possibility of speed and impairment as factors in the crash. NHP also confirmed that Frank Thomas didn’t wear a seat belt during the collision.
By 3:00 a.m., the southbound lanes on I-15 reopened.
