Joel Trujillo Jr. Dies in Motorcycle Accident With Driver at South Decatur and West Oakey Boulevards
LAS VEGAS, NV (May 1, 2019) – A Las Vegas man was killed in a motorcycle crash Sunday night at South Decatur and West Oakey boulevards.
According to Metro spokesman Lt. David Gordon, police responded to reports of a crash around 9:42 p.m. There, officers learned that a motorcycle collided with a 1998 Ford Mustang.
Evidence at the scene and witnesses’ testimonies led authorities to believe that the 2007 Yamaha motorcycle crashed as it headed north on Decatur Boulevard. The Yamaha collided with the Mustang as the Mustang attempted a turn onto West Oakey Boulevard from Decatur Boulevard.
Joel Trujillo Jr., 25, struck the right side of the Mustang. As a result of the impact, both he and his 28-year-old female passenger flew off the bike.
Unfortunately, Trujillo died from blunt force trauma at the scene. Meanwhile, paramedics transported his passenger to UMC Trauma with serious injuries and the Mustang driver with minor injuries.
Per a police release, the Mustang driver demonstrated no signs of impairment. However, whether the motorcyclist had been impaired at the time was unclear.
We’d like to send our heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family and friends of Joel Trujillo Jr.
