Injuries Reported in Deadly Tacoma Auto Accident on Highway 22
KENNEWICK, WA (January 22, 2023) – Early Saturday morning, Joel Reyes died in a shooting and crash on Highway 22 in Kennewick.
According to reports, the incident happened at around 1:00 a.m. on Highway 22.
Reports said that a Toyota headed south on Highway 22 in Toppenish. Then, it drove across the centerline until it collided with the Chevrolet Silverado.
Officers revealed that 51-year-old Jason Reno of Kennewick drove the pickup, along with 44-year-old Lehela Kaahanui as a passenger.
Responders transported both of them to a MultiCare Yakima Memorial Hospital.
Also, officers found 22-year-old Joel M. Reyes of Tacoma shot dead before he could be taken to a hospital.
Moreover, another Toyota passenger, 22-year-old Pedro Sanchez of Fife sustained injuries. Responders also took him to a Yakima hospital.
WSP also revealed that a driver and another passenger left the wounded man and a third passenger. Then, they escaped from the crash scene before officers arrived.
