Joe Banes Dead in South Los Angeles Hit-And-Run Accident, Driver at Large

 
Los Angeles, CA (August 14, 2020) – On Thursday, 50-year-old Joe Banes was killed in a hit-and-run an alley south of the 200 block of West 60th Street.
 
Moreover, at 11:50 p.m. on Wednesday, authorities received a call about a man’s body in an alley near West 60th Street.
 
Shortly after, the Los Angeles Police Department arrived at the scene of incident. Authorities then pronounced Mr. Banes dead at the scene.
 
Investigators conclude he was lying down, when an unknown vehicle struck him.
 
Later on, surveillance footage was released showing an individual stopping to look at the body.
 
The video was provided by neighbors with a backyard view of the incident.
 
LAPD Detective Juan Campos spoke to KTLA, saying, “I’m not saying this person was involved in the fatality; However, this is a person of interest I’d like to talk to and talk to about what happened in the alley.”
 
Furthermore, Campos stated that this person of interest in the video footage also struck a fence.
