Joanna Alvarez Dead in Ventura Pedestrian Crash on Highway 101
VENTURA, CA (UPDATE) – On August 23, a pedestrian named Joanna Alvarez died in an accident on northbound Highway 101 and Victoria Avenue.
The authorities received a report of the crash at 8:54 p.m. on Highway 101, north of Victoria Avenue.
The CHP and Ventura County Fire Department responded to the scene. Upon their arrival, they found the 19-year-old down in the road. Then, they declared Ms. Alvarez dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, the crash stalled the northbound traffic in the area. Initially, CHP officials decided to shut down the northbound ramp to the freeway from Victoria Avenue.
The surrounding area on Highway 101 was closed off for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties. However, the roadway has since reopened to traffic.
We at Sweet Lawyers offer our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Joanna Alvarez. Our thoughts are with them during this difficult time.
Deadly Pedestrian Accidents on Northbound Highway 101
While car accidents are far more common than pedestrian accidents, there is still reason to be wary when traveling on foot.
Common locations for these pedestrian incidents include shopping center entrances and street corners, but even freeways as well.
“Pedestrian accidents do not occur as much as motor vehicle accidents, but the pedestrian accidents tend to include more serious injuries,” says Tyler Toomey, a practicing attorney at Sweet Lawyers.
