Charles Nance, Jennifer Lenwell, and Jimmy Cawthon Jr. Injured in Red Bluff Car Collision

 
RED BLUFF, CA (January 29, 2020) – Three people sustained injuries in a head-on collision on Walnut Street and Fortier Road on January 23.
 
Authorities identified the injured as 49-year-old driver Jimmy Ray Cawthon, Jr., 37-year-old driver Charles Nance and 36-year-old passenger Jennifer L. Lenwell. Lenwell was a passenger of Nance’s vehicle. Responders took the three to St. Elizabeth Community Hospital.
 
According to reports, Jimmy Ray Cawthon Jr. drove east on Walnut Street east of Fortier at 5:50 p.m. At the same time, Charles Nance traveled west on Walnut Street. For unknown reasons, Cawthon veered into the path of Nance in the westbound lane, leading to a head-on collision.
 
Authorities identified alcohol as a factor in the collision which remains under investigation.
 
The incident shut down Walnut Street at Fortier Road for around 30 minutes to give time for clean-up and removal of vehicles.
 
Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding the crash to contact Red Bluff CHP at 527-2034.
