Two Pueblo Men Fatally Injured in Single-Vehicle Crash near Milepost 79
PUEBLO COUNTY, CO (June 16, 2018) – Two men were killed late Saturday morning after their pickup truck rolled over near milepost 79. 63-year-old Jesus Villegas and 48-year-old David Madrid, both residents of Pueblo, were identified as the fatalities in this incident.
According to the Colorado State Patrol, the crash took place at 11:44 AM. A 1988 Chevy pickup truck, driven by Villegas, was heading northbound on I-25 when it lost control, causing the truck to spin and cross the northbound lanes.
The pickup truck overturned three times through the southbound lanes and off the west side of the road. The impact of the crash ejected Villegas and Madrid from their vehicle, seriously injuring the two men. Emergency responders pronounced Madrid dead at the scene. Villegas was rushed to a local hospital, but later succumbed to his injuries and died shortly after.
The preliminary investigation suggested that the victims were not secured in seatbelts at the time of the accident. Alcohol and drugs were ruled out as possible factors in the fatal crash.
No other information has been disclosed to the public at this time.
We offer our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Jesus Villegas and David Madrid. May the rest in peace.
