Drivers Hospitalized in Wrong-Way Crash Near Hidden Valley Road
Orinda, CA (October 19, 2023) – The authorities arrested 35-year-old Jesus Valdez of Oakland following a stolen car collision on Highway 24 Wednesday.
The pursuit began at around 6:30 p.m. when Contra Costa County deputies saw a stolen car and tried to stop it on Highway 242.
The chase continued on Interstate 680 and Highway 24 before exiting onto Acalanes Road.
Officers said the suspect, Valdez, fled on foot but returned to the stolen vehicle and drove off onto Highway 24.
Valdez drove the wrong-way in the eastbound lanes and collided with another vehicle between Hidden Valley Road and St. Stephens Drive.
Valdez and the other driver incurred major injuries and were hospitalized.
Later on, the authorities arrested Valdez for allegedly possessing a stolen vehicle, possessing stolen property, reckless evading, evading police causing injury, evading police by driving in the opposite direction and having a warrant for drug trafficking.
