Jesus Padilla Detained after San Marcos Accident Police Chase on Interstate 5

 
SAN MARCOS, CA (March 1, 2021) – Saturday, authorities arrested Jesus Padilla in a pursuit crash on Interstate 5 at Encinitas Boulevard.
 
The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department revealed that it started just before 9:00 p.m.
 
According to reports, deputies noticed a stolen vehicle near the intersection of Rancho Santa Fe Road and Capalina Road.
 
“Deputies tried to pull the stolen car over, but the driver did not stop, resulting in a vehicle pursuit through the cities of Vista, Carlsbad, and Encinitas,” the department revealed.
 
The suspect later exited Interstate 5 at Encinitas Boulevard.
 
Then, he crashed with a Metropolitan Transit System bus.
 
Afterward, the man exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot.
 
In doing so, he left the vehicle overturned, with a female occupant. The car eventually collided with a guard rail.
 
Meanwhile, authorities later arrested the suspect, 21-year-old Jesus Padilla.
 
He is facing charges for felony evasion, vehicle theft, and possession of a stolen vehicle.
 
Furthermore, responders took the female passenger to the hospital with minor injuries. Meanwhile, the bus occupants suffered no injuries.
