2 Dead and Jesus Monge Gutierrez Out on Bail for Perris Accident on I-215
PERRIS, CA (June 21, 2021) – Friday night, two people died in a DUI pickup truck crash on Interstate 215 and Nuevo Road.
The fatal accident happened at 9:30 p.m. on northbound Interstate 215, south of Nuevo Road.
When the firefighters came to the scene, they located a Dodge Ram 3500 pickup, pulling a horse trailer, and a Mitsubishi Lancer. Then, they declared two people dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, they found another person, a passenger in the Lancer, with critical injuries. Thus, they took them to University Medical Center in Moreno Valley.
Apparently, Jesus Monge Gutierrez, 42, drove on I-215, drifting from his lane and colliding into a vehicle pulled over, possibly because of a flat tire.
As a result, the two people in the disabled car, the driver and backseat passenger, died at the scene.
At this time, the identities of the deceased remain undisclosed. Once additional information becomes available, the public will be informed.
Shortly after the crash, police booked Gutierrez, the sole occupant of the pickup, into jail the same night.
The suspect is being charged with DUI gross vehicular manslaughter, resulting in death and in great bodily injury.
Even so, as of Monday, he is out on bail, a $75,000 bond.
Due to the limited information available, the DUI crash remains under active investigation.
