1 Person Injured in Salinas Auto Accident on E Laurel Drive and Towt Street

SALINAS, CA (May 15, 2023) – Saturday morning, authorities arrested Jesus Cervantes after an alarming police chase crash on E Laurel Drive.

The incident started at around 3:45 a.m. when officers attempted to pull over a Gray Honda Accord for a vehicle code violation.

According to reports, the Honda fled the scene at a high rate of speed and ran a red light. Then, the Honda traveled on the wrong side of the road, made a U-Turn, and collided with another vehicle. Also, the Honda crashed down a 15-foot embankment where it finally came to rest.

Moreover, firefighters rushed to the scene and extricated the driver of the Honda, 43-year Cervantes, who was trapped inside the wreckage. Then, paramedics transported him to a hospital with serious injuries. Also, the driver of the second vehicle sustained minor injuries and was released at the scene.

Furthermore, officers confirmed that the suspect is wanted for four felony charges and was booked into Monterey County jail for resisting arrest and evading officers.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
