3 Children, Jessica Peterson, and Donald Wise Hospitalized after Big Rig Collision near Luneman Road
PLACERVILLE, CA (September 24, 2018) – Five people were hospitalized Monday morning following a three-vehicle collision near Sutter’s Mill Elementary School.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident took place at about 7:50 AM. A big rig, driven by 67-year-old Donald Wise of Camino, was heading north on Lotus Road when a 1995 Lexus sedan pulled out from Luneman Road.
The Lexus, driven by 42-year-old Justin Osucha, struck the truck’s left side and sent it fishtailing. Subsequently, the big rig slammed into a southbound 2010 Buick Enclave, driven by 30-year-old Jessice Peterson of Placerville.
The impact of the collision injured Peterson and her three children, ages 4, 5, and 8. They were transported to the UC Davis Medical Center after suffering moderate blunt trauma injuries. Updates on their current medical conditions were not immediately available. Meanwhile, Wise was taken to Marshall Medical Center with complaints of neck pain. Osucha did not sustain injuries and remained at the scene.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the crash and to identify possible contributing factors. It was also noted that the adults were wearing their seatbelts, and the children were secured in their car seats. No other information has been disclosed to the public at this time.
