Juvenile Injured in Santa Barbara Bicycle Accident on Oceano Avenue and Del Sol Avenue
SANTA BARBARA, CA (August 5, 2021) – Monday afternoon, authorities arrested Jessica Mendoza after a hit-and-run crash on Oceano Avenue.
The bicycle accident happened at about 1:00 p.m. on Oceano Avenue and Del Sol Avenue.
According to reports, a vehicle hit a juvenile riding a bicycle. Then, the driver fled the crash scene.
Three other juvenile bicyclists rode with the victim and saw the crash. Also, the vehicle left vehicle parts at the collision scene before fleeing.
Traffic Officers came to the scene and obtained a detailed description of the suspect vehicle and license plate. As one of the Traffic Officers responded, they found the suspect’s vehicle. According to them, the vehicle matched the description and reported plate.
Thus, the Officer stopped the vehicle and contacted the suspect driver on West Montecito Street and Castillo Street.
Moreover, the authorities identified the suspect 34-year-old Jessica Mendoza of Santa Barbara.
Meanwhile, the investigation confirmed that Mendoza took part in the crash. Also, she didn’t stay at the scene nor provide any exchange of information or helped the victim.
Thus, the authorities arrested Mendoza and booked her in the Santa Barbara County Jail. Her charges include Hit and Run with Injury (felony), Driving on a Suspended License (misdemeanor), Driving without an Alcohol Interlock Device (misdemeanor), and No Proof on Insurance (infraction).
Also, her vehicle was impounded and the bail was set to $50,000.
Meanwhile, the bicyclist didn’t suffer serious injuries.
