David Mackey, Jessica Leyva Injured in Lake County Car Crash on Highway 2
LAKE COUNTY, CA (November 7, 2019) – Two people sustained injuries in a DUI car crash on Highway 29 on November 6.
The CHP revealed that an alleged female drunk driver from Santa Rosa caused a head-on crash. The collision injured the suspect driver and the other driver.
At around 6:25 a.m., 32-year-old Jessica Leyva stopped her 2002 Ford Pickup at the intersection of Highway 29 and Highway 281, near southern Clear Lake and Clear Lake Riviera. However, she then pulled into the path of another vehicle, CHP Officer Joel Skeen revealed.
As Jessica Leyva turned left, she then pulled into David Mackey driving a 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier. Leyva’s actions resulted in a head-on crash.
The officers found out that alcohol played a role in the crash. The authorities arrested Jessica Leyva on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. Her injuries led a helicopter to airlift her to UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento.
Meanwhile, 53-year-old David Mackey of Middletown suffered moderate to major injuries. An ambulance took him to Sutter Lakeside Hospital in Lakeport.
