East 9th Street Crash Kills 5-Year-Old Girl, Jesse Bennett Arrested

Reno, NV (April 29, 2021) – On Wednesday, a 5-year-old girl died and police arrested 33-year-old Jesse Bennett, of Eugene, OR. in a chase that ended in a crash on East 9th Street.

The fatal crash took place at around 8:20 p.m. at the intersection of Sutro Street.

Officers said Reno and Sparks police tried to pull Bennett over because he had felony warrants out of Oregon for domestic violence and attempted kidnapping. Instead, Bennett drove away in a 2007 Scion. He ran a red light and struck a 2003 Honda Accord.

A girl riding in the 2003 Honda Accord was killed while Bennett and a passenger in the Scion tried to flee the crash scene.

However, officers found and arrested Bennett. Though, the passenger is still on the loose. He now faces multiple charges including DUI and possession of drugs for sale.
