Las Vegas Woman Dies in DUI Crash on Torrey Pines Drive
Las Vegas, NV (July 20, 2022) – On Tuesday afternoon, the authorities arrested 18-year-old Jerry Madera in a DUI crash on Washington Avenue killing a 33-year-old Las Vegas woman.
The authorities received the multi-vehicle crash report at about 2:29 p.m. at the intersection with Torrey Pines Drive.
According to the investigators, a westbound Toyota Rav 4 SUV driven by Jerry Madera was traveling at a high rate of speed. The vehicle ran a red light and collided with a Mazda CX-5 SUV that was turning left from the southbound lanes of Torrey Pines.
The Mazda rolled over multiple times and the Las Vegas woman driving it was rushed to UMC where she died.
Moreover, the Toyota rolled into other traffic lanes and started a fire.
The paramedics rushed Jerry Madera to UMC with serious but not fatal injuries. Officers booked him in absentia on suspicion of DUI and reckless driving resulting in death.
Officers say the Toyota and the Mazda struck four other vehicles. Luckily, three of those drivers did not sustain injuries while the fourth incurred minor injuries.
