Michael Lindo Arrested After Fatal DUI Hit-and-Run Crash on August Avenue Near Palm Street
DEHLI, CA (January 23, 2018) – After 9 PM on Tuesday night, a 17-year-old girl from Dehli was struck and killed on August Avenue about 500 feet east of Palm Street.
The teenager was identified on Wednesday afternoon by the Merced County Sheriff’s Office as Jennifer Arroyo. According to reports, Arroyo was crossing the street when a 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe traveling east and going 30 mph on August Ave, struck her.
The vehicle, driven by 33-year-old Michael Lindo from Dehli, fled after hitting the young woman. Neighbors tried CPR on Arroyo until emergency personnel arrived. Despite efforts, she was pronounced dead on the scene. Lindo returned to the scene and was under the influence of alcohol.
Merced County jail records stated that Lindo was arrested for felony charges of first degree murder, DUI causing great bodily injury, hit-and-run resulting in death, gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, and have three or more DUI convictions in seven years. He was taken into custody on Wednesday at the Merced County Sheriff’s Main Jail, with a $1.4 million bond amount.
