Jack Jessop Arrested in Bicycle DUI Accident on SR 27
Spokane County, WA (May 14, 2023) On Friday evening, 68-year-old Jeffrey Bennett of Spokane Valley was hurt in a hit-and-run crash on SR 27.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the bicycle accident happened on state Route 27 1 mile north of Freeman, at around 7:55 p.m.
Reports say that 55-year-old Jack Jessop of Rockford was driving a 2004 Toyota Camry that struck Bennett on a bicycle on the right shoulder of the road.
Authorities say that Jessop fled the scene without stopping to render aid to the fallen bicyclist. Officials later found Jessop in a ditch at Dishman Mica Road and state Route 27.
Meanwhile, medics transported Jeffrey Bennett to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center. Officials have not released details on his current condition.
Officials arrested Jack Jessop for suspicion of vehicular assault and hit-and-run. Troopers say that impairment may have played a factor in the crash. Jessop was booked into Spokane County Jail.
